Selected World War Two Posters

E-mail Print PDF

I have found some interesting World War Two posters. These particular examples are American, there are so many but these were a few interesting ones:

A poster from world war two

Some of these posters show how much more the American government encouraged a united world during World War Two. Here is another example:

American Poster With Australian Soldier

There were identical posters around with many nationalities including the Chinese and even Ethiopian. It would have been a time when people did not know so much about the world and even an Australian would have been quite alien to the American population.

Japanese Spy thanks you!

Of course scrap metal was precious in every Allied nation. Metal from farms waste was also highly sought after as the demand for more ships and airplanes grew.

Scrap: encouraging farmers to save metal

I absolutely love this image, while these are government propaganda posters of World War Two, you can see that because of the vastness of the war effort they would have had some fantastic artists and marketeers on the pay roll.

Fat for bombs!

Finally, saving cooking fat for explosives. Yes, everything was needed during World War Two. Makes you wonder how we would manage now if we needed to make these kinds of sacrifices and rationing. Probably not well. I hope you enjoyed these historical posters, they are made available through the great work of the Northwestern University Library.
