I haven’t taken the time to write more deeply about some of the new art series and projects I have started up over the last 3-6 months and now is the perfect time to do it. With the new 40 or so panel abstract photography art edits completed I can speak a little more on some motivations and meaning. To be completely honest I don’t like to speak too deeply on any “meanings” behind my works because it is mostly done with the express purpose of allowing the individual to garner their own thoughts from my words or images. Or nothing at all… if it doesn’t “speak to them”.
The new series uses a lot of natural tones and is a result of being very bored with just “landscape photos” so I wanted to do something more. A kind of surrealist landscape series was what came to mind. I’m very specific with some things and I don’t like to describe it too much as it’s more interesting to see what people come away from art with in their mind. However, the above photo edit is of a single wild rose growing way out in the middle of nowhere. I use a lot of ‘instinct’ in my creative work and I always find what I am looking for even though I don’t know exactly what I am looking for.
I’m fascinated with the Australian landscape’s ability to revive itself after fires and a little bit of that notion comes through in some of my latest series. I have even used older works as inspiration or just completely reworked them into something new. A kind of creatively “burning down the house” sequence to see what grows from the ashes. Thank you all so much for the support and I hope you keep in touch as I will be producing more art whenever I get the chance – not to mention my writing. You can see my more private gallery here to read more writing with my photography and art edits.
