Inside the United States there are several cycles of corruption. Herein described is only one of many.

The presidents of each of the two major parties make mistakes that are typical to their particular party except in regard to the economy. For the past 17 years both parties have been spending money like drunk sailors.

You Have Been Lied To

The president of the late 1990’s, the one who so gladly allowed our trajectory secrets to pass to the Chinese, decided that he would emasculate the CIA. He decided that the intelligence gathering community would no longer enlist the aid of people who had criminal backgrounds. Supposedly, cocaine sniffing would not disqualify someone from contact, since the president was a cocaine sniffer himself. However, most convicted felons would be pushed out of the system. So, the only informants made use of during this period of time, in the late 1990’s, would be non-criminals. In essence, the president made the CIA into a wimpy agency. The CIA became wimpy.

As a result of the CIA becoming wimpy, there was a small amount of intelligence information available. Thanks to this, the terrorists who attacked the United States had an easy time knocking down the Twin Towers. This happened only a few months after the new president had taken office, the first president of the twenty-first century. This newly elected president, changed the policies of the CIA, making the CIA less wimpy so it would once again be an effective information gathering community. He continued spending money like a drunken sailor, starting two totally useless wars, however he did strengthen the CIA and thereby made the country more secure.

The next president, from the opposing major party, decided to make the CIA wimpy again, putting the spotlight on water-boarding of the war criminals. Even though there had already been one investigation of the water-boarding, he initiated investigation number two, to investigate the same thing over again? Why? Pure politics. If he can make the previous president look bad, he thinks it may make him look better, especially in this time of extreme unemployment and depression. So, thanks to the new president, the CIA was wimpy once again.

So, what has happened as a result of the CIA becoming wimpy again? The Fort Hood terrorist attack! It is simple cause and effect. More than a dozen Americans were sacrificed on the altar of political correctness. The terrorist is a psychiatrist. He can plead insanity and he could be an expert witness in his own behalf. In mental science, the medical model (psychiatry) and psychoanalysis are relics of the twentieth century. When will we finally assign them to the dust bins of history?

The best way to handle intelligence situations is to reward good behavior and punish bad behavior. This is the way of behavior psychology.

Unfortunately, the government goes the opposite direction, punishing good behavior and rewarding bad behavior. Behavior psychology is relatively easy to learn but apparently is beyond the comprehension of most of the politicians of Washington, DC. Or, maybe they do not have the inclination or the guts to do the right thing.
