Thanks to all of you who visit the site and read my articles, poetry and view my art works I thought I would take the time to say thanks. The site started a few years ago after a previous online creative experiment. It has evolved into what it is today which is a creative writing and art site covering news and topics that are at time controversial. The freedom that the site has afforded me was the reason for its creation.
As many of you can see on the main site I share quite a lot of my poetry for free on the site and some of it has seen quite a lot of traffic. I really want to thank my twitter supporters for this as they have provided insight and inspiration. Since this is an online project I have decided to try and embrace social media as much as possible. The exciting thing about this is that I am not really selling anything (like most on twitter) but rather sharing articles and other creative endeavors. The diverse nature of twitter means that I reach and audience that would never see my works. If they don’t like it, that is fine as this is the other nature of the internet, choice.
Coming up this year I have begun study of my own so time is less free personally even though I have a few ideas in the pipeline. This month I have decided to share a lot more of my classic poems and early work. These poems are a foundation for many poems that came after it. As a poet you will always find themes that stick with you and you will want to explore them more than once. There is no reason not to explore different ‘angles’ in writing and in fact it is encouraged.
Much like photography or cinematography subjects must be looked at again and again from different angles. While this is more straightforward visually, it is much more interesting to do it in the written form. Poetry is more than just a viewpoint it is an exploration and an investigation. Through this form mankind has been able to explore love, nature, God and themselves. While science has the ‘facts’ art has the substance and the motivation that is lacking in the purely logical.
I have gone off topic a little bit but as a thank you should also be an explanation I hope this post has explained some of the background of the site. As I approach 3000 twitter followers I say thanks for making the NEW kjwriteleft.com such a great success. I am always pleased in my heart to find people reading and enjoying my poetry and other writing. I hope you all are having a great 2010!
