Art Disguised

By KJ Halliday

When writing pieces of poetry and such

The writer must be themselves a tool

In the literal and colloquial sense

False and true in both instances

An idiot and a wise man

To be able to speak clearly to both

Be more of a fool

As writing is a foolish thing

Never ending filler if you let it

Precise and defined if you control it

Always that tiny invisible line

Between an inspired man

And a delusional one

A beautiful writer will be both

Yet neither

A performance of life

If you can make yourself

A living statue

Yet supple, reworkable

Rewriting if you wish

Or the madness of the automatic

Mainly nonsense and not worth it

Starting from a basic point

A solid branch from which

I pray

The budding flowers of your works

May grow
